Maybe it was to let the audience use their imaginations of how the murder took place, or it might have been socially unacceptable to actually show, or describe the murder.
becuase its against Mcbeths's character to commit murder in cold blood... it would have probably been descibed if lady Mcbeth did it because we can see her doing it, but if Mcbeth did it we'de all be saying to ourselfs "Mcbeth would have never done that"
Macbeth had all these thoughts running through his head about murder but i believe he didn't want to kill but it puts us in a form to where we can take it however we want.
I think he didnt want the audience to view the play as a bunch of sceens with murders. Having Duncan killed was necissary for the play but not necissary to be described in detail or acted out.
maybe because of how the murder was so graphic that it couldnt be shown on paper or maybe it was so that it could have been suspensful. so u could let ur own mind wonder what could have happend.
